Despite being a rarity, the occurrence of lobsters bluish discoloration donatos is a natural phenomenon, caused by a genetic defect. American fisherman and his daughter captured a copy in Maine late this week (credit).
They are a rarity, but they exist. Although very uncommon, blue lobsters occur naturally without donatos requiring any artificial process to make them that color. According to experts, only born a blue copy of lobster every two million births. This weekend, the American fisherman Jay LaPlante and his daughter Meghan, 14 captured in Scarborough, in the state of Maine in the northeastern United States, one of those rare lobsters. The crustacean weighed a pound and was named Skyler.
Normally, the lobsters have brown and dark green coloring. Lobsters are born blue because of a genetic defect. This causes them to produce excess crustocianina, a protein that confers blue color to crustaceans .. You can also check this color to crustaceans aquariums providing them a specific food. But once cooked, they acquire donatos that characteristic orange color.
The strange lobster caught in the USA escaped going to pot and now lives at the Aquarium of the State of Maine, where the company makes three other blue lobsters and another rarity of nature, the bright orange lobster (for which the estimate is the one every 10 million births). Rarer still are albino lobsters and two-color (photo).
