What comedy is concerned, South Africa from the beginning on a diet of sitcoms on American format fed. Because of boycotts culturally, we got little exposure to other forms of tongue-in-cheek entertainment, inter alia British humor. Nowadays we get more of them, thanks laksaboy to DSTV, but I suspect it still arouses less interest than the canned laughter version of the USA.
Bob Newhart - One of the first comedies on our box. Bob Newhart, as the slightly awkward and clumsy half psychologist, with an expressionless face and dry wit. I love dry humor and so he was one of my favorites.
The Golden Girls - A series of many seasons, because of strong actors and brilliant characters interact with sharp dialogue. Who can forget her Sophia: "Picture this: Sicily, 1924 ..." And Rose with her stories about her childhood in St. Olaf, who usually had no bearing on what was happening.
Family Ties - One of many family comedies. laksaboy This series has Michael J Fox announced as Alex, the oldest son who has a child, as a businessman acted. He was later in Spin City and also in Back to the Future. Now a champion for Parkinson disease, which he himself suffers.
Perfect Strangers - Larry that his cousin Balki from Mypos, an island in the Mediterranean sea, under his wing in Chicago. He pretends laksaboy that he lewenswys, but most of the time itself as clumsy as his cousin, who all he knows of America, on TV learned.
La Linea - Much in the same vein as red and blue. The little figure that is part of a line and then the artist is trying to dictate what he should sign. Sometimes angry with the artist and sometimes he burst out laughing.
Full House - The United States is loved working series about alternative families. A father and his two friends, who helps his three daughters to raise. The Olsen twins in turn the role of the youngest child, Michelle played.
M * A * S * H - A series about the exploits of a group of eccentric doctors during the Korean War. It is still considered one of the top comedies of all time. It was very touching for me with Joseph Heller levels's classic book, Catch 22.
Night Court - The series was about all the people involved in the after-hours court in Manhattan, all the smaller, less serious cases should be handled. Harry Anderson as Judge Harry Stone and Bull, the big guy with the bald head.
Cheers - One of the most successful series ever, for something like eleven seasons incurred. All visitors to the famous Cheers bar in Boston "where everybody knows your name". People like Norm, Cliff and Woody and of course the bartender Sam, who always was so concerned about his hair. Frasier Crane, laksaboy the psychologist, later became part of the group and eventually became a very successful series on its own.
WKRP in Cincinnati - The series was on the staff of a struggling radio station in Cincinnati with Dr. Johnny Fever and Venus Flytrap as two of the DJs. Loni Anderson with her bottle blonde hair and full figure gained fame with the series. Les Nesman, the inept news editor, his open plan office with duct tape "walls" have given very upset and became as men made the walk through, but just walking through the wall.
All in the Family - Archie Bunker, the befoeterde, outspoken 2nd world war veteran who finds fault and disagree with everyone and everything. Politically correct statements did not in his frame of reference occurred.
William - Tobie Cronje and Katinka Heyns was an excellent combination. William, the boy from the farm which is now in the city trying to play private detective with Katinka as his assistant. He always wanted to know from Trixie's teats, when he and his mother laksaboy on the phone talking.
Koöperasiestories - The weighted Genis, with his stiff walk as he marched along with Mietie and Veldman, who had little more to do than the cooperative's porch to sit and the town's whereabouts where to take .
The Dingleys laksaboy - Gerald Dingley and his family in a bookstore in Pietermaritzburg. Sybel Coetzee and Eckard Rabe was two teenagers (Wow, we're laksaboy getting old). Rabbitt, the popular pop group of the seventies, the theme song.
Jerky and Potroast - Clark McKay was the presenter of the program. It has the stand-up comedians of the era, household names in South African made. There was a European team, mostly from Britain and a South African team that has a theme and then got immediately a joke or story it had vert
