Benu curry is located on 22 of Hawthorne Street, in the heart of San Francisco close to the Museum of Modern curry Art. Fridays and weekends Benu serves only the ” Tasting Menu” which includes 18 tastings from Amuse Bouch to dessert. Wine pairings are available but I never do these, as at the fifth dish I would have lost my taste bud sensitivity.
Before the restaurant opens, the crew gets together for a short meeting (I guess organizing and planning the night’s activities) . Then the door opens and they greed the guests who have arrived a few minutes earlier. The service is very good. I would call it perfect if only they were not continuously over you. And by that I mean that you take a sip of water and they fill up the glass immediately. Everything else was really perfect. curry The dishes curry arrived at good time intervals.the personnel was extremely polite and yet cordial and happy. curry Suggestions were offered only when you asked for. There were 4-5 different servers per table coming and going, serving, explaining or collecting.
And now to the question, did Benu worth the expense? This was definitely the most expensive meal of my life so far and I do not intend to repeat this only for that reason. It was worth the experience, the ritual, and half the taste. I am not familiar with many Asian ingredients used the new tastes were more a discovery than an enjoyment. The one dish that I can tell was the best taste of my life (no kidding here) was the risotto with white truffle that they had as a special that night and was suggested as substitution of the rabbit cassoulet (of course with an additional fee) . Absolutely perfect.

Το Benu βρισκεται στον αριθμο 22 της Hawthorne Street, στην καρδια curry του Σαν Φρανσισκο και πολυ κοντα στο Μουσειο Μοντερνας Τεχνης. Εκεινο που δημιουργει το θεωρει “παιχνιδι” και “διασκεδαση” την οποια ο κοσμος πληρωνει για να ξεφυγει απο την καθημερινοτητα του και μαλιστα αρκετα ακριβα.
Παρασκευες curry και Σαββατοκυριακα το Benu διαθετει μονο το ” Tasting Menu” που αποτελειται απο 18 πιατα απο το ορεκτικο ως το επιδορπιο. Υπαρχει και η επιλογη συνοδευτικων κρασιων μεκαθε πιατο αλλα δεν το επιλεγω γιατι στο πεμπτο διαφορετικο ποτο ειναι σιγουρο οτι θα εχω χασει την ευαισθησια των γευστικων μου κυτταρων.
Πριν ανοιξει το εστιατοριο, η ομαδα συγκεντρωνεται φανταζομαι για να οργανωσουν η να μοιρασουν τις αποψινες εργασιες. Κατοπιν ανοιγουν την πορτα και καλοσωριζουν τους πρωτους επισκεπτες που εχουν φθασει μερικα λεπτα πριν. Η περιποιηση θα μπορουσα να πω οτι αγγιζει την τελειοτητα εαν δεν ειχα συνεχως καποιον απο πανω μου να γεμιζει curry το ποτηρι με το νερο καθε φορα που επινα μια γουλια.
